Brady Beats and The Token Girl

Brady Beats was born in London, England, and spent his childhood and teenage years in Brisbane, Australia. His journey later took him to Connecticut, USA, before finally settling in South Florida—where he would eventually meet Token Girl.

Token Girl was raised in Massachusetts and lived there most of her life until the summer of 2017, when she moved to South Florida—right as Hurricane Irma was approaching. Funny enough, Brady Beats also relocated to Florida during the same hurricane, though neither of them knew each other. It wasn’t until three years later that fate brought them together - thanks to a dating app.

Brady Beats first messaged Token Girl on the Hinge dating app with a simple, yet bold line: “Your profile is perfect.” That one message sparked something special. Just weeks into dating, Brady Beats won a work trip for two to Southern California. With a sense of adventure (and maybe fate), he invited Token Girl. Though we’d only known each other a short time, we jumped into that trip—and into something much bigger.

We spent a week road-tripping the California coast in a Mustang convertible, falling in love as we cruised down the Pacific Coast Highway. From scavenger hunts at Warner Brothers Studios to sunset walks on the Santa Monica Pier and starry strolls along Hollywood Boulevard, every moment felt like a movie. At dinner, we’d joke with strangers that we were celebrating our one-year anniversary—and they always believed us. We even got free desserts from the restaurants!
As we boarded our flight home from L.A., people started wearing masks and the COVID-19 lockdowns had begun.

Brady Beats invited Token Girl to stay at his parents’ home in North Carolina "for a little while.” That “little while” became five weeks. She met his family for the first time on her birthday—quarantine style. What could have been a chaotic time turned into one of the most defining chapters of our story.

With the world on pause, Token Girl asked Brady Beats to teach her how to DJ. Brady Beats has been Djing since he was a teenager and taught Token Girl everything he knows. They started Djing as a duo at pool parties for friends—just for fun—but it didn’t stop there. Token Girl did her 1st public DJ set at a friend's mansion on the Intracoastal Waterway. From there, we started playing at Florida Kava Bars and eventually moved on to nightclubs, events, and bigger venues. What started as a lockdown hobby quickly turned into a shared passion and growing career.

That Christmas Eve, Token Girl gifted Brady Beats a “Best Boyfriend in the World 2020” trophy. Brady Beats upped the ante—with a marriage proposal. One year later, we celebrated our wedding in the backyard of the same house where we waited out the pandemic together!
